My name is Sam and I am looking to start a non-profit community based project that provides hygiene supplies, self care products and basic essentials to those experiencing homelessness in Kingston, ON.
I have named my project, Collective Needs, as it symbolizes “the shared requirements of a group or community that are essential for well-being and functionality.”
While working in the social service industry for the last 4 years with those experiencing mental illness and homelessness. I continue to see the patterns of isolation, inequalities, and suffering of those in need become more and more common. Our community is divided by stigmatization, class divisions and prejudice.
We often forget that our fellow neighbours are ALL of us. Not just the people who live next door, but our entire unhoused or precariously housed community members.
So many people are suffering. With more people accessing the Foodbank, more people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurities, more people facing financial burdens & unsafe living conditions the more our current social services are over burdened.
The goal of this project is to provide some relief for the basic necessities people need. Through the providence of hygiene products , self care supplies and basic essentials.
The monetary donations to this project will take 100% of its income to provide hygiene supplies & self care products to those who need them.

This also includes, first aid supplies, tissues, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
Every dollar of monetary donations will go into purchasing the products for those experiencing homelessness, previously unhoused, low income families or those living in shelters. This includes youth shelters, woman shelters, and family shelters.
