Collection in aid of Muscular Dystrophy and the ICU Nurses

Several people have asked if there was to be a collection at Claire (Muldoon) Cheyne's funeral and if they could give towards it.

Claire's funeral took place on 24th April and we had a collection to be split between the nurses in ICU at Forth Valley Hospital and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Claire spent the last week of her life in the Intensive Care Unit at Forth Valley Hospital. Claire was under 24 hour a day supervision, there was a nurse with her the whole time. They were kind towards Claire, myself and Claire's family. For the last 18 years myself and Claire's mum provided all of Claire's care, we were extremely protective over Claire. We never believed we would be comfortable leaving Claire's care in the hands of anyone else. However we felt comfortable leaving Claire in the care of the ICU nurses, that was such a massive for us. I'm really not sure how we would have got through that week if it wasn't for the nurses. Every single last one of them that cared for Claire was amazing. Eternally grateful.

Claire had limb girdle muscular dystrophy. Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity that helps support people with muscular dystrophy and their families. They help to fund medical research, offer information and support to newly diagnosed people, run campaigns around transport and a whole heap of other things.

We haven't received the cash collection back from the funeral directors yet but any money from here will be added to that pot and split between the nurses and Muscular Dystrophy UK.
