Hi!
Its the fourth of July and I am working through major household issues. I have a collapsed clay pipe in my basement. Someone opened up my basement floor and all of the waste is right there in a pool. I am raising funds to get the plumbing in my house fixed and so that there is no exposed sewage.
I am on a time constraint because of the heat. My daughter and I can not comfortably use all parts of our home until the repairs are made. This reality stresses my extended framily, my business and my community work, making it a slightly more difficult step for everything from water disposal to kitchen usage.
For over three years, I've been working through the issues of our home. I was unaware; I purchased an as-is house and am learning all the opportunity costs. I live in a neighborhood that has been mandated as disenfranchised, which creates an environment of hostile environmental issues, supposed vacancy, minimal groceries and store options, and redlining still lives undercover.
I am personally invested in my community and want this next transformation to go as smoothly as possible, with minimal displacement, if any. I've found alternative ways to handle housing, but that is also on a deadline.
Meanwhile, the garage that was already an ordinance issue has had its roof fall in due to weather. As they say, "when it rains, it pours." In this case, it has been true. With both issues happening simultaneously, there is a strong effort for me to get our home stabilized so that I can make art, grow food and live comfortably.
Any support will help.
Thank you.
