Cole Bennett's Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Cole Bennett, I am a Life Scout in Troop 1710 in Troy, MI. Currently I am working on the next steps to becoming an Eagle Scout, one of those steps is my Eagle Scout Project. The project is supposed to help benefit my community.
So what is my project?
For my project I am building an outdoor shed for The Boys and Girls of Troy. I am going to build the shed for the sports equipment and toys that the kids use. Currently this is the state of their outdoor storage facility.
As you can see, the storage box is completely falling apart, held together by a bungee cord, and completely open to weather and its affects. As you can see the balls look dirty and out of shape. However, this is what I plan on building to replace the storage box.
With this new storage shed, the Boys and Girls Club will be able to keep all of their equipment safe and dry year-round and not have to continuously buying more balls, jumprope, or chalk for kids to use.
Additionally, I will also be building 5 planter boxes for the back side of the club. The current model looks like this--
I am building these planter boxes for multiple reasons, first being that with grown plants during the warm months it will give a nice and pleasant look to the outside of the club. Also, most importantly, the kids will be able to be the ones planting and caring for the plants and flowers. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn about plants and the environment but also have fun!
I need your help! Typically I would do a can and bottle drive to raise a majority of the funds. However, because of COVID-19 the bottle return services can't take enough cans to fund this entire project. So, I am using this GoFundMe as my primary way to fund my project, with your help we can make this all happen.
As someone who went to the Boys and Girls Club for many years through my childhood, this project is my chance to give back to the place that gave so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to hear my project and my story.
Yours in scouting,
Cole Bennett
