Cold Open Relief Fund
I'm Andrew, some of you might know me as @hobbyvices, and I wanted to get this fundraiser started with my buddy Dan (@thelonelyhavocs on Twitter) for Colyn, who has been running Cold Open Stories for well over a year. Dan and I had him on our podcast a few weeks ago!
If you're not sure what Cold Open is, Colyn has single-handedly created a place for fans to create, share, and enjoy works of unofficial fiction in the form of audio dramas. Even going on to win awards for the work, and chart on the British Top 100 podcasts, and Canadian Top 40! All for free. He's never earned a penny doing this - simply producing and orchestrating the efforts for others to enjoy out of a sheer passion for the project.
Colyn recently lost his job, due to funding issues in social services. His family's future is uncertain as a result, particularly given the circumstances of the past several months. 2020 sucks.
After my house flooded two months ago, the community stepped up and pitched in to help raise some money - it was heartwarming for me to see the community come together to help me and my family at our lowest moments. I want to extend that to Colyn and his family.
If you're in a position to give a few bucks, consider doing so, if you can. And if you don't know Colyn, but know the quality of my character, understand that I don't ask for money on behalf of others lightly. Colyn is 100% deserving of our support, here, and I fully endorse this drive.
