Hello! We are Colby & Kellen Pennington, a Queer couple living in the rural south. We have been together for almost 8 years and from the moment we met, we knew we were soulmates. We got married on October 7, 2023 and it was a completely magical day that we will never forget. The following year, we decided we were ready to start trying to expand our family. We tried doing AI (At Home Insemination) for a year with a wonderful friend of ours as our donor, and month after month we were met with negatives. Even as we planned and tested and thought we were doing everything right, it still wasn’t working. Fast forward to June 2025, we have started specialized Fertility treatments with CNY Fertility. This is an expensive process not only financially but mentally as well. After undergoing lots of tests, we were able to find out that I (Colby, who will be carrying) have a blocked tube on one side, making the cheaper and less invasive option of IUI more complicated. At our NP’s advice, we have decided to forgo spending extra time and money on more intensive testing to try an IUI and instead we will be moving forward with IVF. This will come at a higher cost than we previously expected. Our clinic is over an hour away and the location where we will be traveling to undergo egg retrieval and transfer when the time comes will be over 8 hours away in Sarasota, FL. We are starting this fundraiser to help with travel expenses, the treatment itself, taking time away from work for treatment and any other unforeseen expenses that will come with this process.
