My name is Eva O'Toole. I am 17 years old and looking to raise money to provide the perioperative staff at Massachusetts General Hospital with one cup of free coffee.

As many of you know, our front line workers have working extremely hard and risking their lives for us amidst this pandemic. What some of you may not know is that Mass General Hospital in Boston is currently the hospital in Massachusetts with the most coronavirus cases. 

Due to the fact that elective surgeries are no longer permitted for health and safety issues, the  staff in the perioperative area have been deployed to other areas of the hospital where they are needed, such as the ICUs, patient floors, proning teams, dialysis units and the preop area for vital surgery.

Among this staff is my mom, who has been telling me first hand the physical and mental toll that the coronavirus has had on her and fellow colleagues. When I asked her what I could do for the staff she simply replied with “A free cup of coffee would honestly go a long way.”

So, say no more, Mom! I am coordinating an effort to purchase coffee for the perioperative staff at Massachusetts General Hospital by partnering with the hospital's coffee shop. For all of you coffee lovers out there, you know that one cup of coffee can go a very long way. One cup of coffee is the least we can do for these heroic men and women for all that they are doing for us during this time.
