Would you give up a Coffee for Colonia?
Many of you may have heard that the city of Oxnard is slashing many things from the budget that make our city great and give our kids stuff to do and places to go. One of those is the Colonia Library. If you grew up in Colonia or spent anytime there with fam, you know that the Library there isn't just a big room with books. It is a place with access to knowledge and to wisdom. The kids in Colonia deserve access to knowledge, because knowledge is power. So take away that knowledge, and you are taking away the power from future generations.
So Stay Classy Oxnard decided to do something about it! If the city wont keep it open, we wont let it go down without a fight. We are taking it to the people....
The city says they can save $30,000 by closing the Library, so we are just gonna go ahead and work to keep it open by the people.
We are asking people to donate $6 (or whatever you can!) toward keeping the Colonia Library open next year. If we can get enough people to donate $6 (or more!), we will hit that goal! Would you be willing to give up a single Starbucks drink for just one day if it would keep the doors open to a place for our communities kids? After GoFundMe's, cut of the fundraiser (2.9% of the total + 30 cents per donation which is why the goal is a little higher than 30k), every single cent from this fundraiser will go straight to the Colonia Library.
We need to show the city how this communitys people can come together and show them whats really important to us all!
