Dear Friends and Family,

Coeliac disease is a genetic autoimmune condition where the body mistakenly attacks itself in response to gluten. For those affected, consuming gluten triggers severe symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhoea, weight loss, and extreme fatigue. In children, it can hinder growth and weaken the immune system. Left undiagnosed or untreated, it can lead to long-term health complications, including infertility and even certain types of cancer.

As a parent of a child with coeliac disease, I know firsthand how overwhelming and isolating it feels when you receive this diagnosis. Navigating a gluten-free lifestyle can be daunting, and unfortunately, there is very little support and reliable information available, especially at the start of this journey.

That’s why I am taking the first steps to establish a charity in the UK dedicated to supporting coeliac patients and their families. My goal is to provide care packages for newly diagnosed individuals, gluten-free hospital meals for patients and offer guidance and answers to any questions, and eventually expand to hosting gluten-free events such as:

Gluten-Free Chanukah and Purim parties

Gluten-Free Challah Bakes

Gluten-Free Shabbatons

Another critical aspect I’d like to address is raising more awareness with medical professionals and educators about coeliac disease. I would love to organise informative sessions for GPs and teachers to help them better understand coeliac disease and the importance of strict gluten avoidance.

However, I cannot do this alone. Starting a charity requires both time and resources. I have found dedicated professionals who can assist me in launching this vital initiative, but this comes with significant costs.

I am reaching out to ask for your support in raising the necessary funds to get this much-needed project off the ground. Your generosity can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by coeliac disease, and may Hashem bless you and your families with health and happiness in return.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Rifka@TheCoeliacConnectTeam
