Seven years ago, little did I know I was meeting my soulmate on a dating app. It was crazy because he didn't even pop up on my list at all. But then, I received a message one day, and it was different from any other message I have received. Cody wrote me what looked like a novel, all about who he was and what he was looking for. I was taken back because no one has ever done that before. I waited a while to respond, but then I decided to keep an open mind, and I said, let's see where this goes. After multiple messages and conversations, we finally met at a Starbucks in Naperville.
We showed up almost at the same time. I parked a little farther away, so I had to walk past a couple of businesses before reaching the Starbucks. I remember seeing him for the first time; in my head, I said, wow, he's cute. His big blue eyes and huge smile could light up a room anywhere; this is what caught my attention right away. We went inside Starbucks and ordered a drink, and I decided to get some oatmeal. I usually never complain about Starbucks, but this was one of the worst drinks and oatmeal I have ever had. We laughed about it and kept talking. I told him I needed to get going and meet some friends up in the city. He asked me if I wanted company. I thought about it for a second but said sure, why not. We dropped off his car at his apartment and drove up to the city. If anyone has ever driven with me before, they know I like to get from point A to point B the fastest way possible. I was weaving in and out of traffic, and he said WOW, I really enjoy your driving. This was the last time this statement was ever said.
We finally made it to the bar in Old Town to watch the cubs game and meet with some friends. We had some drinks, food, and some good laughs. On the way home from the bar, he held my hand for the first time. I instantly got all the butterflies and felt a connection. We got back to his apartment and decided to set up a second date, but this time not at Starbucks. A month later, I asked him to be my boyfriend, and he said YES. We have been inseparable ever since then. We have taken many vacations, switched jobs, bought a house together with two beautiful kitties. Then something amazing happened! We decided to plan a trip to the RIU in Cancun, Mexico. Little did he know this was where everything was going to change forever. On one of the last days of the trip, I decided to get down on one knee and propose. He had no idea and was really thrown off. After words that I said that I don't all recall, he said yes. We ended up having a beautiful dinner on the beach and celebrated our new engagement. Since then, we have decided to have a destination wedding in beautiful Costa Rica. We are so excited to spend the day with all our friends and family that we love so much.
Our dream after our dream wedding is to start a family. We have lived together for over three years and have all the materialistic items we need. But, it will be a little different for Cody and I to start a family, and we need your help. Our goal is to raise enough money to start a family together. Unfortunately, adoption and surrogacy/gestational carrier are very costly. Please help contribute to our fund to one day be a family. We appreciate you all for all the love and support throughout the years. We could not do this without you!
With much Love,
Cody & Trevor
