My name is Jon Harvey, I live in Utah, and I am the CEO of Iron Sight Coffee and the host of The Modern Conservative Podcast. Winter in the Salt Lake City area is merciless, with winter nights dipping far below freezing. This winter is supposed to be especially harsh. The men, women, and children sleeping under bridges, in tent encampments, and on heating grates aren’t numbers—they’re our neighbors. Veterans, single parents, young adults who aged out of foster care, and workers blindsided by one emergency too many.

Facing the cold is one less problem they should have to worry about.

That’s why I’m raising funds to buy heavy-duty winter coats, blankets, and other winter essentials, and distribute them myself throughout Salt Lake County and the surrounding counties.

$25 buys one high-quality coat.

$100 outfits four people.

$500 keeps twenty bodies warm for the entire season.

I will personally hand out every single coat. I want to see every face I give a coat to and talk to each person. I’ll be there in the encampments, at the warming centers, on the library steps—anywhere people are left exposed. No middlemen, no warehouses. Just direct, human interaction.

I'm not a big charity. I'm just one neighbor who can't look the other way. I have been donating coats to kids for the past three years and will continue to do so, but I want to elevate the effort to help the homeless who want help. Together, we can make sure no one in the Salt Lake City area freezes this winter.

The United States is the richest nation in the world, and we should not have a homelessness problem—if only America focused on taking care of Americans first. And while I recognize that giving out coats doesn't solve the problem completely, it's a step in the right direction. But I need your help to make this step happen. And for the person receiving that coat, it could mean saving their life through the cold winter ahead.
