Coast to Coast for Recovery
190 Miles. 11 Days. One Life-Changing Cause.

From 9th to 19th August, a group of us from The Lifeboat — a community recovery hub — will be walking the entire length of the country. That’s nearly 200 miles, from St Bees on the Irish Sea all the way to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea. It’s the famous Coast to Coast Walk, and for us, it’s more than just a physical challenge — it’s a statement of how far we’ve come.

Because not long ago, most of us couldn’t walk to the shop without a battle in our heads. We’ve struggled with addiction, mental health, hopelessness, and isolation. But through places like The Lifeboat, we’ve found support, purpose, and a sense of belonging we never thought we’d get back.

The Lifeboat isn’t just a building — it’s a place where broken things are mended. Where people like us get another chance. We come together not just to talk about recovery, but to live it. Through connection, routine, therapy, shared purpose — and now, through this hike.

“There was a time I couldn’t walk down the street without a drink, drug or a lie holding me up. Now I’m walking across the country with nothing but honesty, hope, and blister plasters. That’s what recovery — and The Lifeboat — has given me.”

We’re doing this hike off our own backs — paying our own way, carrying our own gear, and putting one foot in front of the other for something we believe in. Because that’s what recovery has taught us: you’ve got to show up and do the work.

“I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13

We’re aiming to raise £1,500 for The Lifeboat — to help them keep the doors open, the kettle on, and the light shining for the next person who walks in off the edge.

If you can donate, even just a few quid, you’ll be walking with us in spirit. You’ll be part of something bigger than a hike — you’ll be helping someone find their way home.

Thanks for reading, for caring, and for believing in second chances.
Let’s do this — one step, one mile, one day at a time.
