Coast To Coast Walk For Gala's Christmas Lights

Thank you for looking at the GoFundMe page set-up by me (Bill Jeffrey) to raise funds for the 2019 Galashiels Christmas lights and switch on event.
Galashiels being one of the main towns in the Scottish Borders should be leading the way when it comes to events in our region. Due to a lack of funds 2018's non-event was a disappointment to a lot of the towns people and more say children.
Our Christmas lights are organised and paid for by Galashiels Chamber Of Trade. Their members are all town centre business owners who all contribute to things like events and the lights. The change in our shopping habits has been responsible for large decline in local traders in our town centre. This has cut the number of local businesses who can contribute and the businesses we do have, no longer have the income to support things like the towns Christmas Lights.
So if we want better for our town, children and grandchildren it's time for us to help.
To do my wee bit I have decided to team up with Galashiels Community Council and walk the 214 miles coast to coast on the Southern Upland Way. Please make this mammoth task a bit easier by showing your support and sponsor me. The more I can raise the more determined I will be to complete the walk and the more reason I'll have to do this.

I have put the total to raise as £10,000, but the more I can raise the better your lights and switch on event will be. Our towns population is over 12,000 people and if everyone gave £1.00 we'd raise £12,000, but I think we could do a lot better than that.
Please, Please help make this years Christmas lights and event something we'll remember for years. I'll start this of by sponsoring myself £10.00 please give what you can afford.
