Coast 2 Coast 4 Blackpool Food Bank
We are getting on our bikes to raise money in aid of BLACKPOOL FOOD BANK and every donation will help.
Beyond the images of rowdy stag parties, donkey rides and sunbathing pensioners, Blackpool is one of the poorest of Britain's seaside towns. The child poverty rate in the town is 29.5%, rising to over 50% in some areas. The harsh reality is that many families in Blackpool have to rely on food banks for a lifeline in a time of crisis. With the covid-19 pandemic, universal credit, minimum wages and poverty levels, more and more people are turning to food banks. Blackpool Food Bank offers daily food parcels filled with essential food and drink to get by on. #Vforvolunteers
A group of us are getting on ourbikes to take on the Coast to Coast (C2C, or Sea-to-Sea) bike ride from 31 July-2 August 2020 (lockdown permitting). Its a classic bike ride from west to east, meaning we dip our wheels in the Irish sea at Whitehaven on the west coast before dipping them in the North Sea at Whitley Bay three days and 22kkm later powered by strong tea and even stronger language.
