Helping Homeless in MD: Warm Clothes for Winter

We're IN the cold season.  Most of us have a roof over our head; 3+ meals a day; warmth; family.
Many do not.

In 2019, our goal is to raise money AND get donations of [new] socks, scarves, gloves, & hand/foot warmers.  Ideally, by raising the money, we can purchase the items and deliver them personally to the shelters.  See below for what your money can and will buy.

We are partnering FOUR local shelters over the next few years.  In February 2019 we'll help the first:

The first to benefit from the fundraising, will be the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, in Maryland.  That goal is coming up soon - with February 15th as the final deadline to help raise $5,000.

The other three - will have ongoing deadlines.

Those other shelters are the Loudoun County Social Services Department (which serves the Loudoun County Hypothermia Shelters, out of Sterling, VA), the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, through "Cornerstones", which serves homeless in Fairfax County, and the Goergetown Ministry Center, which houses and feeds many of the DC Homeless.

As temperatures dip and the risk of hypothermia increases, local cold weather and hypothermia prevention programs are coming into full swing.
One of our goals is Hypothermia Prevention. During the winter months of December through March, unsheltered homeless adults and children living around our community have a place to seek shelter from the cold weather.  During the day, when they aren't in shelters, the hope is to be able to provide them with Long Thick Scarves, Warm Gloves, and Socks (ideally Cotton or Thermal ones).

This is a HUGE project, and will be ongoing throughout 2019.  If successful, we'll make this a yearly project!

We're in our FINAL STAGE. We've raised $1,700 of our $2,500 STAGE ONE GOAL.

OUR 2019 GOAL is to raise money for ONE LOCAL SHELTER by February 2019. The first, is the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, in Maryland.

For Stage One, we are helping to raise $5,000 in order to purchase Socks, Handwarmers, Gloves and Scarves. The DEADLINE is fast approaching, and we're just over $800 away from our goal of the first $2,500, which will allow us to purchase clothes for HALF of the shelter.

ANYTHING WILL HELP - $10, $20, $30, $40, $50 - or more!

So - the deadline is 02/15 - on Friday the 15th, I will be purchasing WARM clothes for the shelter. Pics and Video to follow - so you directly can see how you will have helped.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE WEBSITE TO SEE OUR PROGRESS: www.DudleyDoesRight.org

Anything over the $803 we need to raise for Stage one, will go toward the total $5,000 we have to raise for this shelter.

Think of this for perspective to reach our $5,000 Goal - and we only need a further $2,500:

$10 - times 250 people.

$25 - times 100 people.

$50 - times 50 people.

$75 - times 33 people.

$100 - times 25 more people

$250 - times 10 more people

$500 - times 5 more people

We've had other large donations - the most common being over $500.  We can't thank those donors enough.

SO, please continue to donate, and we will get there.  ANY NUMBER IS APPRECIATED.

Our "non-profit status" is PENDING - this was to be in place by the end of December, but the Government Shutdown has delayed that - and we are now waiting (like everyone else!)
Any amount is hugely appreciated, but think of something as small as $25 - it buys 2-3 people a whole set of warm clothes! :)

This is a HUGE project, and I hope we can raise as many funds as possible for those less fortunate that us!  Watch for my updates on FACEBOOK, and please visit the informational page at www.DudleyDoesRight.org
