Clinic for Rural Guatemala
When my daughter, Delaney, was in Guatemala on a dental outreach program through Volunteers Around the World (VAW), she met a woman named Ellen Finn who is the director of Buenos Vecinos (www.buenosvecinos.org). Delaney was so touched by Ellen's efforts to provide not only medical and dental care to extremely impoverished residents throughout Honduras and Guatemala, but also their commitment to education (and they even rescue dogs!).
Throughout my conversations with Ellen, I learned her organization has been asked to help build a medical clinic in a tiny village called Rio Tarro. The residents in Rio Tarro are so desperate for this clinic, each family has agreed to donate one brick to the project and will provide all the labor to have it built. Still, they are estimating a total cost of $25,000 to get the project done. It will not only serve Rio Tarro - but 5 neighboring villages as well.
Please consider helping. The average villager works 16 hour days for a measly $4 per day.
