On 21st August it will be one year since Karl passed from suicide. On 25th August it will be two years since he climbed Snowden (on the day that we were coincidentally also supposed to do it, but couldn't due to the weather. In true Karl fashion he went and did it anyway)

So we will be attempting to climb it in his memory, while also raising money for C.A.L.M, a suicide prevention charity, and The Mix, a youth work charity that he worked at for a number of years (he jumped out of a plane to raise money for them! He was also King Karl of The Mix on the day the olympic torch came to town).

I met Karl while working at The Mix, and we immediately bonded. He was the kindest, most generous, sensitive, funniest, emotionally mature guy, and he became part of my little family. He was the watermelon to my daughter's strawberry (whatever that means ), helped my partner build his dream gaming PC, dog sat for us and cleaned our entire house while he was at it, nights out, nights in, playdates at soft play and The Mix, brought me flowers to work when I was sad...

He was always there for everyone else, but struggled to let anyone be there for him. He gave everything to everyone, and has left a massive hole in our lives.

There's so much more I could say but I'd honestly be here forever.

So, this overweight and unfit, hypermobile human with arthritic hips will be climbing her first ever mountain, along with her partner Ryan, who is absolutely convinced he can do literally anything so will probably do zero training...

On 21st August this year, we will climb Snowden in Karl's memory, something we should have been doing with him, not in his memory.
