Clearing Intersection of Roxbury & Triadelphia

Hello! My name is Zachary Gruzs, I am a Life Scout in Troop 757 of Glenwood Maryland.

 

I am fundraising money for my Eagle Project!

 

How many times have you pulled out at the intersection of Roxbury onto Triadelphia Road... With your heart in our mouth? You just can't see traffic to the right... Almost until it's too late!

 

As a new driver, I encounter this intersection everytime I go for a drive and every morning on my way to school. I know what it is like first hand to have to pull out past the corner just to see if a car is coming.

 

If you are not familiar, there are many bushes, shrubs, and trees situated on the corner of this intersection that block the view of oncoming traffic on both Roxbury and Triadelphia road. This causes the driver on Roxbury to have to pull out into the road to see around the corner to determine whether it is safe to go or not. The driver coming down Triadelphia is also not able to see a car turning off of Roxbury because of the dense foliage on the corner.

 

In fact, there have been accidents at this intersection and I don't want to see another. As a Boy Scout, it is important to me that the safety of this intersection is greatly improved for our community.

This local company feels the same way I do and is donating their time and resources in order to help me complete my project. I would also like to thank the County Councilman, Mr. David Yungmann for his support and for sponsoring my project.

 

Now I need to ask for the community's help... Your help.

 

I need funds for trash bags, durable gloves, caution tape, water for my fellow Scouts and pine needles to lay down as a mat to prevent new growth from coming out of the ground and re-obstructing the new and improved line of sight. I need flags and cones for the closing or restricting of traffic during project work days. I may also need to pay for a professional "road flagger company" to close the road for a few hours.
