Clear the Air ATX: Clean Air is Community Care

Clear the Air (CTA) is an organization that focuses on creating access to cleaner air for artists, musicians, and organizers in the Austin area. Our goal is to make spaces more accessible and reduce covid transmission by lending HEPA air purifiers free of charge.

Clear the Air is here to challenge pandemic apathy and offer solutions for covid-safer events. We must find ways to mitigate this airborne virus with tact, compassion, and the long-term in mind. Allowing tools like air purifiers to become accessible to people curating, hosting, and participating in communal spaces can help make this a reality.

Reducing the amount of viral particles in the air means we can decrease the risk of transmission, thus keeping our communities safer while maintaining vital social connections. HEPA air purifiers are the main tool of choice for Clear the Air. Based on HEPA air filter data that predates covid, and the studies done since, we feel this is one of the best options. We believe no one is “disposable”, and our communal spaces should reflect that in their safety and accessibility measures.

While this should be the responsibility of larger well-funded institutions, it has become apparent that they will not take action. We know the power that community holds, and we want to start implementing long-term covid-safer solutions. Where better to start than spaces filled with innovators and culture shifters?
