My name is Kirk, and together with my wife, I am working to bring lasting change to the people of Liteta, Zambia. Inspired by my local priest, Fr Jacob Sundararaju of the Missionaries of St Francis De Sales, I learned about the urgent need for clean water, reliable electricity, and a safe community space in this community. We started this journey by donating to get the project off the ground, and now we’re inviting others to join us in making a real difference.
In Liteta, many families—especially young women and children—spend hours each day retrieving water from distant sources. This not only puts them at risk but also takes away valuable time that could be spent on education, work, or community development. Without reliable electricity or a secure gathering place, opportunities for public health, learning, and growth are limited.
Our project will provide a fresh water well, a solar-powered electricity system, and a new community room right where they are needed most. These resources will offer clean drinking water at the point of need and create a safe space for community development and public health advancements. Our fundraising journey is inspired by the legacy of missionaries like Fr Marquette, who worked with native peoples around Lake Michigan in the 1600s. To raise awareness, I’m taking on a personal adventure—driving a jet ski 750 miles around Lake Michigan—to connect our local history with this global cause. Together, we can help the people of Liteta build a brighter, healthier future.
