But in Ethiopia, the reality is starkly different.

Every day, young girls walk for hours to reach contaminated water sources shared with animals. They collect dirty water, unaware of the deadly bacteria that could harm their loved ones. These girls miss out on education because the search for water consumes their days, and they lack the knowledge to protect their families from waterborne diseases.

There are no alternatives. And now, with the conflicts in the region and the drought reminiscent of the 1980s, the need is even more dire.
