Clean up Joans home!

UPDATE: WOW. We are so humbled that so many people want to help Joan. I don’t think people even realize just how much of an impact this will have on her mental health, and that of her children. We have increased the goal to $20,000 because this will allow us to go above and beyond with replacing her bed and mattress, her kids beds and mattresses. We now have enough to fix her broken HVAC, which wasn’t working during the hottest Summer we have had in years! We will pay to have the mold issues remediated properly, the bed bugs treated properly, and we will be buying them all new sheets, pillows etc! She has one chair that she sits in, and it 100% has bedbugs. I will be tossing that chair, and replacing it for her. I will also be removing any other mouse/rat infested furniture pieces and replacing. We are SO EXCITED!!
We’re Nik and Liv Stophel. Every week, we spend one day helping people in our community of Tulsa, Oklahoma for free and we call it Good Work Wednesday! This fundraiser is for Joan. Joan is an incredibly deserving widow, with two special needs adult children. One has spina bifida and is wheelchair bound, and the other is on the spectrum. A friend of Joan’s reached out to us on social media asking if we could help her. Homeless people were breaking into her backyard and making themselves at home in her two sheds. They were leaving tons of trash, contraband, and various other things in her yard and of course, were making Joan feel unsafe in her own home. The best solution was to remove the two sheds completely, which we did for Joan. As we continued to help her with various projects she needed assistance with outside like removing trees and branches, fixing her wheelchair ramp, and replacing a broken window AC unit, we realized there was a much larger need inside her home. Her home over the years has become a health hazard that’s out of control. Most of it is full of old belongings and trash that is stacked high and has made a home for mice and bedbugs. It’s to the point where she has to store groceries inside a tin trash can and clothes in plastic bags with zippers just to keep critters from getting to them. We had a long conversation and decided together that it was time to throw everything out and rid of the mess. We will be getting multiple roll off dumpsters and throwing as much of the trash and belongings away as we can. We also will be properly sanitizing, treating, and disposing of areas where mice and bedbugs made nests.
because of the infestation, we want to buy Joan all new bedding, and even some furniture for her house. We want to pay to treat any of the bedbug areas and provide her with a high end air purifier for her home (as the mold from ceiling leak is pretty extreme) she hasn’t had a working central HVAC in over two years, and has some barely working window units.
we are here to transform her home and life and provide a safe and clean living space for her from now on! 100% of money donated will go towards Joan and her needs. We will see that all of it is used and the more there is, the more we can do to help her!
Thank you in advance for helping Joan!
