Claverty & Clifton Citizens Road Project
Donation protected
This page is in aid of helping the community people from a small rural part of Portland called Claverty Cottage district adjacent is a small village Clifton Hill. They are both situated in the hills near to Blue Mountain. The areas host some of the most beautiful sceneries of the mountains, rivers and blue mountain coffee. The district is a home to many and consists of a school, church and produces some quality organic foods by the farmers in the area which is sold in local markets in Portland and Kingston.
Over the past 20 years or more the people have been struggling to commute to and from the area. The road that was once tarmac is now a track. I have taken on the initiative of organising this page to assist the community with building a better road including fixing or building new drainage systems. The road was built in the late 80s and unfortunately has never been maintained, due to the heavy rain over the years the road has been badly damaged and in various occasions impassable making it a daily challenge for the people living there and for teachers to get to work as they live outside the district. There has been various attempts to get help from local government but this too has been futile.
As a collaborative effort we can take on the project as a community and do what we can in fixing the road or parts of it, hence this gofundme effort. We can do this guys pls help and contribute whatever you can. Why should you donate think of your family members or friends living there or it’s your home. For those overseas this could be a getaway vacation when you need a break.
The project is in aid of the members of The Claverty Cottage Citizens Association. The Finance Management will be governed by myself Kareen Everett (gofundme) and another account will be managed by Delphena Willis and other members of the committee apart of the church, both accounts will be merged in one.
We knew what the road was like when it was commutable and would like to make travelling to and from the community easier, safer and more accessible.
We will be working with other locals in the community the church, school and other members to make this project a success. The funds will be transparent and regular updates will be made available via social media. Thanks again for supporting this cause.
