The iconic 'Classic Video' of Kingston has shut its doors permanently.
Like many businesses, the Covid pandemic forced many financial issues on the owner Tom Ivison, but the struggle was made even more challenging by the rapid growth of streaming services. Tom did his best to give the people of Kingston an option for entertainment and many people made the best of his services, especially during the pandemic.
Even though this is a 'one-of-a-kind' operation, the true purpose of this fund is to raise as much money for Tom to help pay off his bills and loans accumulated over the last three years. The campaign will not help Tom reopen Classic Video.
All contributions will be considered as gifts and are not taxable as income. Tax receipts will NOT be issued.
If you're not sure about contributing, here are some thoughts:
- How many times did you bring videos back late and not be charged extra fees?
- How many date nights started with a couple of picks from Classic Video?
- Where did you go for entertainment when internet services were down several times in the last few years?
- What was your go-to place for rentals when it was pizza & family night?
- Who always had the back-catalogues of all of those unique series or classic movies that you love so much (especially when they weren't available on streaming sites)?

My name is Bill. We moved to Kingston 5 years ago and discovered 'Classic Video' shortly after arriving here. This one-of-a-kind movie rental service had EVERYTHING.
We got to know Tom Ivison before and during the pandemic. He always knows his stuff and we had many chats about movies and the industry.
