Hi I'm Claire, so many people will know me as an award winning baker from Stockport, a lively outgoing person, but in 2022 I got ovarian cancer, leaving me with no lymph drainage meaning my legs are swollen and they became so infected I was put in the trauma centre at stepping hill back in December 2022 I got severe sepsis I'm my legs and had emergency surgery on both legs.

Fast foward to now, after spending so much time in hospital and in bed I have totally lost the ability to walk. Yes I have had some physio sessions, the way things are you get 1 x call a week for 30 mins and after 10 sessions it's done. But bing in hospital so long I revert back to being unable to walk as its months before you get more sessions. I went back in hospital in Jan 24 and I thought this is it.... I'm going to die.. They discharged me home in June 24 and after 1 day of being back home I had sepsis again, taken to Wythenshawe hospital. There again this was the third near death experience all the time, my two sons are suffering with this trauma, my mum it's been horrendous. But wythenshawe got me back to health, still unable to walk but I can stand, up just carnt walk. I was given a air matress for home and a manual wheel chair but the problem is is so heavy, I carnt operate it on my own I just don't have the strength as my muscles have not been used not like when I'm fit and well so this is keeping me trapped in my down stairs bedroom. The state will not give me an electric wheelchair. I had to buy my own ramp have a bedroom made down stairs, I have not slept in my own bed for 3 years.

This wheel chair will give me in dependence to get in another room even in to my kitchen so I can make my own drink wash my own pots, it will mean I can sit in my garden, have some sort of life. I just don't have the money to purchase one as I had to give up work August 24 due to this ongoing situation. I'm not a charity case, I'm not a begger, anyone who knows me, knows I have always paid my own way in life, but with everything that's gone on I just don't have enough to buy this chair.
