A Home for Amelia

Donation protected
We are raising funds to build a safe, permanent home for a remarkable grandmother named Amelia and her three grandchildren in Chiltiupan, El Salvador.

Hi, we’re Nicole Andregg and Patricia Birch, and this project is deeply personal to us.

In January of this year, Nicole had the opportunity to travel on a mission trip. During that experience, she met extraordinary people whose faith, kindness, generosity, welcoming spirit and hospitality left a lasting impression. She returned home with a passion and drive to do more for the families who welcomed her so warmly into their lives and made her feel so deeply loved.

While on that trip, Nicole met Amelia.

Amelia is a grandmother raising her three grandchildren on her own. She is known in her community for her faith, warmth, kindness, and generosity, always welcoming visitors with care and compassion, even though she herself has very little.

After hearing Amelia’s story and spending time with her and her grandchildren, Nicole felt a strong pull to help. Through the mission program, she found the opportunity to be part of rebuilding Amelia’s home and giving her family something they have never had: a safe, stable place to live.

When Nicole returned home and shared her experience through stories, photos, and videos, Patricia was immediately inspired. Seeing the impact of one trip and hearing about the people who opened their lives and hearts so freely made it impossible not to get involved. Together, we committed to supporting this project and helping Amelia in a meaningful, lasting way.

About Amelia’s Current Home
The photos you see here show Amelia’s current living conditions.
Her home is built from corrugated metal with a dirt and stone floor-held together by hope. The structure offers little protection from the elements. There is no electricity and no running water. The interior serves as a kitchen, living space, and sleeping area for a grandmother and three children. This is where they cook, sleep, and try to create a sense of home, despite the challenges they face every single day.

Our Goal
We are hoping to raise $10,000 to completely rebuild Amelia’s home and provide her family with a safe, functional, and dignified place to live.

Once the full funds are raised, construction can be completed in as little as 10 days. Our hope is to begin as soon as possible so the home can be finished before the rainy season, when living conditions become even more difficult and dangerous.

In July 2026, we will personally return to visit Amelia, see the completed home, and bring essential household supplies to help her family settle into their new space.

All funds raised through this campaign will be distributed through the nonprofit organization The Andregg Foundation, and donations are tax-deductible.

Funds Raised Will Be Used to
•Construct a new home, including a proper foundation, roof, bathroom, and a pila (water basin)
• Install electricity
• Provide essential furnishings and supplies, including: Kitchen and basic household items, beds, bedding, and blankets, towels and bath necessities
• Support local workers with fair wages, strengthening the surrounding community

This project is about more than building a house. It’s about restoring dignity, improving quality of life, and giving a grandmother and three children safety, comfort, and hope.

Why This Matters to Us
We believe that when we are given the opportunity to help, we have a responsibility to act.
Amelia has spent her life caring for others. Now she needs support and we are honored to be part of a community willing to step forward and help make this possible.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a direct and meaningful impact on this family’s future.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign is another powerful way to help.

Thank you for supporting us, supporting Amelia, and helping turn compassion into action.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Nicole Andregg & Patricia Birch
