I’m moving across the country, from Connecticut to Las Vegas, Nevada following the death of my grandmother and a difficult divorce. My roommate and I were able to get a quote for just under $5,000, but as soon as my things were on the truck, the moving company jacked up the price to $20,000. I was able to talk them down to $10,000, bit I’m having an extremely difficult time pulling the money together. I don’t have this lying around, as I’ve been working an online job until my license is granted in NV so that I can take the job I’ve accepted. I’ve sought legal advice, and a lawyer reached out to the movers for me, but I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, and they are now keeping all of my things hostage. I don’t know what else to do at this point but suck it up and ask for help.
