Thank you in advance for your donation to the “CJ Humphreys Children Travel Fund”
The impact of losing a father at any age is a struggle. It is even harder when 3 of the 4 children live out of state. CJ Humphreys was more than just a race car driver. He was a father of 4 daughters and a grandfather of 5 children.
Your donation will help CJ’s “out of state” children not only recover financially from the emergency trip in February, but it will also help them be equipped to attend the upcoming memorial service in May without the additional stress of the financial hardships this creates for each of them while dealing with the loss they are trying to accept.
As many of you know, on February 3rd, CJ had a heart attack and was on life support for 5 days and with no vital brain activity, the family had to come to the most painful decision of removing him from life support. His mother, children and other family and friends honored him in the “walk of life” as CJ was an organ donor and saved 3 lives that day and potentially saving more in the near future.
The loss of these children’s father started a chain of financial events for them on top of the already hard emotional impact. We all know that CJ or anyone would not have wanted to negatively add to their children in this way.
Unfortunately, with no plan in place, including no life insurance benefits or retirement savings to help his children offset the cost of the travel expenses, out of love and support, this effort to raise funds for them was created.
The funds you donate will help them as follows:
In February, the short emergency travel expenses for the 3 daughters that live outside of California collectively cost them is: $3095
This included the loss of wages from their employment and their spouse’s employment, emergency airfare, and food. Luckily, they had friends and extended family to house them for this trip while they were there to say their goodbyes to their father.
The next trip scheduled in May is for CJ’s daughters and their families to attend his memorial service and will cost them more due to the need to bring their entire family with them on a longer trip. The collective estimated costs for them to travel in May for their father's memorial is over $13,022
These costs include; loss of wages from their employment and spouse’s employment, car rental, gas, food and lodging for 10 members of CJ’s immediate family.
With no will or trust in place and no knowing of any information yet on the potential of extra expenses related to CJ’s death, memorial or other financial dealings, we are asking for an additional $2000 to create a buffer of funds potentially needed to help the children finalize those expenses. If there is no need for these additional funds, the funds will be equally gifted to the children.
We know the racing community understands the value of family. The love and unity that comes from stepping up to help other racing families is beautifully overwhelming and we are all full of gratitude for your support.
Let’s help CJ’s girls across the finish line and support them through this tragic time.
Please share and invite your friends and family to help us reach our goal for his family. God Bless!
