"City Heights Climbing Club" low income access rock climbing

Tax deductible
Hello we are Climbing for the Community and we offer free access to outdoor rock climbing instruction, fostering an accepting space for minority groups to learn and grow. All while emphasizing protection of outdoor spaces and their importance in local communities.

Currently we have created a program called the City Heights Climbing Club. It is a rock climbing club dedicated to providing access for minority and low income kids and their families in City Heights (San Diego)

91% of families in this area have never rock climbed, and 43% of them are living on or below the poverty line. The club brings 14 kids and thier parents to Mesa Rim Climbing Gyms once a month for a night of community building and of course Rock Climbing! Transportation, gym fees, rental gear, dinner, and gear prizes are all 100% free to families in the program. Kids and families learn here from AMGA certified rock climbing instructors!

The programs intention is to provide kids with a safe new hobby, build confidence and self reliance, and prepare kids and families to get into outdoor climbing which is far cheaper and more sustainable.

We are proud to say though our sponsors, partners, and the hardworking volunteer officers in our org that we are officially running programs. We have been meeting on the second Friday of every month and will continue throughout the end of the year and into next year as well.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!! We currently have lost funding through the harsh budget cuts of the City of San Diego. This leave our program without many of the essentials kids and families need to participate. City Heights needs this access and with your help we can get back the precious funding we need to keep the program running and "off the ground"

With your help we are hoping to raise enough money to fund transportation, kids climbing gear, insurance, and any other costs needed to keep these families in the program.

*All of Climbing for the Community officers and board members are 100% unpaid and donate thier time (often 40 hours a week) to make these programs possible. With your help we can continue to do this wonderful work.
