We Need Your Support to Sustain This Work

The Grief Room in St. Paul, MN has been internally brought into this world as a grassroots, community-led, and community supported space for grief-tending, care, and connection. This space was founded by Jenna Block and the many hands that have tended and stewarded this vision into being.

We are not funded by corporations or institutions. We are sustained by community - by the people who show up for one another, by those who believe in the power of spaces to witness and hold, and by the hands and hearts willing to participate in the work of care.

We are committed to ethical and equitable care-rooted in transparency, vulnerability, and integrity. We believe in being in right relationship with our community and land: tending resources with care, communicating openly, and allowing this space to be shaped by the real, lived needs of those it holds.

We are guided and rooted by values - deep listening, intuition, cyclical living, honoring grief as sacred, and tending to the unseen as much as the visible. We trust in slow, relational, and embodied ways of building something that can truly hold.

Every day, we witness the immensity of grief. The grief that is spoken and the grief that is carried silently. We see the weight of loss, the quiet sorrows, and the vast collective grief moving through our communities.

This is why this space exists.
This is why your support matters.

In this past four month, this community has shown up by:
  • Raising over $12,000 for immigrant families impacted by the Metro Surge in Minnesota
  • 42 hours of free holistic care offered to community members
  • 35+ hours of grief space + community gatherings held for rest, connection, and support
  • 12+ practitioners (therapy, Reiki, craniosacral, massage, spiritual direction, yoga, sound healing, and more) donating time and care to support nervous systems in our community and keep each other safe.
  • 22 hours of community watch to keep The Grief Room safe and available for our neighbors.
  • Opening up The Free Bodega 2.0 - a mutual aid closet for everyone.
  • 2 Volunteer potlucks - coming together to say, here is how I can help.
These are not just numbers. They are hours of care, moments of safety, and collective breath.

Reaching Far & Wide:
We are choosing to reach for what feels both bold and vulnerable trusting in unseen possibilities and the goodness of people, while holding fear gently in our arms.

Through The Grief Room — Circles of Care Fund, we are calling in community support to initially raise $40,000 to cover our annual overhead.

These funds will directly support the sustainability, accessibility, and expansion of this ecosystem of care through the following ways (plus more):

1. Root & Sustain the Space *Priority!
To stabilize The Grief Room for one full year—covering rent, utilities, supplies, and operational needs—so the space can remain a steady, reliable place for grief to land. An estimated annual fee of $40,000.

2. The Free Clinic (Care Access) *
To support the weekly Free Clinic founded by Erika Sullivan, including free acupuncture and expanding into additional holistic and medical care offerings for those who may not otherwise have access.

3. Subsidized Space for Care Providers (Community Care) *
To offer reduced or no-cost space for practitioners, healers, and community members holding groups for families, grief circles, and care-based offerings—ensuring financial barriers do not limit who can offer or receive support.

4. Soul Offerings & Grief Ritual (Healing Access) *
To continue providing free and donation-based offerings such as individual respite sessions, private grief rituals, seasonal ceremonies, and community gatherings.

5. Grief Literacy & Education (Community Education)
To extend grief education into schools, families, and community spaces—normalizing conversations around grief and equipping people with tools to support themselves and one another.

6. Mutual Aid & Basic Needs Support (Community Stability) *
To maintain a steady, reliable mutual aid fund supporting individuals and families in need of housing assistance, meals, mental health care, medical support, and other essential resources—prioritizing grief care for vulnerable communities.

7. Herbal & Embodied Grief Care (Apothecary)
To build and sustain a small apothecary of herbal grief supports—teas, tinctures, salves, and grounding care items—as well as somatic and sensory tools that support nervous system regulation and emotional processing.

8. Nourishment & Community Care (Hospitality) *
To keep our pantry stocked so that volunteers, practitioners, and visitors are nourished during clinics, gatherings, and open hours—because care includes being fed and held in simple, tangible ways.

*are the ones already in motion and in need of sustainable care.

There are many ways this fund will ripple outward and these are the roots we are committed to tending first.

Every contribution flows back into the circles of care we are a part of while supporting those who give, those who hold space, and those who receive.

If this space has held you or if you believe in accessible, community-rooted care, we invite you to step into this circle.

One way to step in is by contributing to The Grief Room: Circles of Care Fund. Another way is to share this far and wide, trusting it will reach the hands and hearts of those who feel called to support.

Together, we can sustain this small and heart-centered ecosystem of care - little by little, heart by heart.

With gratitude and kindness,
Stewards of The Grief Room
