How Buying Books from a Black Indie Can Support Local Literacy in Urban Communities.

Being able to see a book seller in an urban area that readers from all ages can read books and also interact with other readers will educate an entire community.

Plainfield, NJ has had the opportunity to have a local library present, but imagine a place where readers can purchase books, but also attend author events, open mics, and just invite a friend to catch up on a random afternoon with magazines and drinks? Cindelle’s Bookstore aims to take purchasing books from an online platform, to a brick and mortar where Black and Brown people of all ages are able to have access and resources to thrive and succeed.

This also means more jobs in the local community! Our brick and mortar is set to hire individuals who want to learn more about books and folks who just want to make sure that a hub for culture and art is properly maintained and managed. Why leave Plainfield when you can work, read, meet up with friends, and even attend events all in your community?

That’s what we are doing here. Creating a space for us to read and thrive. Please donate. Literally any penny helps.
