Hi, I’m Ciarra.
I’m a single mom, an educator, and someone who has spent years working to break generational cycles and create a life for my daughter that is rooted in love, peace, and stability.
Right now, I’m in the middle of an ongoing legal case involving a petition for grandparent visitation — filed by my estranged parents.
This has been one of the most painful chapters of my life. My mental health was questioned. My ability to parent was scrutinized. It was suggested to the court that my daughter was unsafe with me.
Recently, the judge made a clear ruling: my parental fitness is not in question. That clarity was a huge relief. A weight lifted. It affirmed what I’ve always known in my heart — I am a good mother. My daughter is safe, supported, and thriving.
But the case isn’t over.
Despite my good-faith efforts to resolve things outside of court, the legal battle continues over visitation rights. I’ve currently amassed nearly $12k in legal fees, and the process is ongoing. We are currently moving forward with a formal trial, and I need to put down $5,000 to get my account up to date before my legal team will move forward
Here’s what I’ve done to try and prevent this from becoming a fight:
- I’ve offered visitation every other Sunday and phone calls on bi-weeks.
- I’ve participated in multiple rounds of settlement discussions.
- I voluntarily underwent detailed neuropsychological testing in December.
- I’ve followed the advice of my legal team.
- I am an active participant in personal therapy. I have gone once a week for four years. In the past few months I have started going twice a week to help me through this situation.
- I am Doordashing, selling plasma, applying for night and weekend jobs, selling jams, cookies, and instructional design services. I am offering babysitting, house cleaning, cookies decorating classes, etc.
- My daughter sees a child centered therapist every two weeks.
- I have tried to remain present and engaged and present mother. I am trying to give her opportunities to grow, learn, and play.
- I am an engaged full time employee with great feedback and increasing responsibility. I have accepted a promotion to Director of my field starting in August.
- I have maintained relationships with family members that respect my boundaries. My daughter and her cousin have retained their friendship through this.
Still, I’ve been met with escalation and litigation. And now, I need help.
Legal fees are mounting — not because I’m dragging this out, but because I’ve had to defend myself, again and again, just to be allowed to parent in peace.
What your support helps cover:
• Ongoing attorney fees and court filings
• Expenses that have become difficult due to legal fees
• The ability to continue showing up in court as the grounded, present parent my daughter deserves
A little about me:
• I work full-time as an Instructional Design Manager, supporting teachers across the country
• I’m a single mother raising a vibrant, kind, creative five-year-old
• I’m a trauma survivor who is choosing healing, not harm, for myself and my child
• I’ve built a life from scratch, with love, boundaries, and intention and I refuse to let fear undo it
If you can contribute, thank you. If you can share this with someone who believes in protecting children and supporting cycle-breaking parents, thank you.
This isn’t just a legal battle. It’s about the right to raise my daughter without interference, manipulation, or control. It’s about the right to protect her peace — and mine.
Thank you for helping me hold the line.
With deep gratitude,
Ciarra
