Support Ciara’s Trip to Uganda – Growing GAA with Simba Wolfhounds

Hi everyone! My name is Ciara, and this summer I’m heading to Jinja, Uganda to support an exciting sports development initiative focused on growing GAA and expanding access to sport for young people—especially girls.

I’ll be working with the Simba Wolfhounds GAA club, in collaboration with UCD Volunteers Overseas (UCDVO), the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science, the Irish Society in Uganda, and a local school in Jinja. Together, we’re running GAA training sessions, sports days, and outreach activities that use sport as a tool for empowerment, education, and well-being.

The Simba Wolfhounds are building something really special—creating opportunities for children to experience team sport, stay active, build confidence, and feel included. Many of these young people have never had access to structured coaching or the chance to participate in organised sport.
