Help Us Create a Safe Pedestrian Crossing for Our Community

Donation protected
We’re asking for your support to fund a much-needed pedestrian crossing on Church Road, Leckhampton, that will benefit children, families and local residents - both now and for generations to come. This crossing will make walking to school safer and encourage independence for children in our community.

While we had hoped this project could be fully funded, times have changed, and we need to raise £7,000 to add to the £68,000 provided by Gloucestershire County Council, Leckhampton with Warden Hill Parish Council, Community Infrastructure Levy, Highways Local Fund and the Grassroots Neighbourhood Fund. (Total project cost: £75,000).

Why This Crossing Matters
  • Improved Safety for Children and Families - Enables safe walking routes to school, reducing risk near busy roads.
  • Encourages Healthy, Active Travel - Supports walking to school, promoting independence and physical activity.
  • Community - Wide Benefit - Safer crossing for all residents, including senior members of the community and those with mobility challenges.
  • Long - Term Impact - A permanent safety feature that will serve current and future generations.
  • Reduces Traffic Congestion - Encourages walking instead of short car journeys, easing pressure on local roads.
  • Supports Environmental Goals - Fewer car trips mean lower emissions and a greener community.

This important work began some time ago thanks to Amalie Harris, a student at The High School, Leckhampton and former Leckhampton Primary School pupil. Amalie has worked tirelessly alongside key individuals to campaign for this vital safety feature. Unfortunately, as a crossing patrol officer cannot be found, this crossing is the best way to ensure families and children can walk safely to school and the wider community have access to a safe crossing.

If you can donate, we would be incredibly grateful. Contributions of £5, £10, £20 or more would make a huge difference.

Should we raise the funds and Gloucestershire County Council determine that the project cannot not go ahead, all donations will be gifted to the Leckhampton with Warden Hill Parish Council to support local initiatives and organisations.

Thank you for helping us make our community safer for everyone!
