The Church of Fun is a communal art space and DIY venue that has been part of the Los Angeles art scene for the past decade. The church brings local and international artists, marginalized people, weirdos, misfits, freaks and outcasts from around the world together. We provide a unique and essential environment that might not otherwise exist for artists to express themselves freely.

The church garners most of its income for the upkeep of the space and the valuable resources to the community that it provides through donations and ticketed events.

Due to recent world events, we have struggled to stay afloat. The COVID 19 pandemic significantly decreased our regular income. We know our community has faced difficulties in these times, and we’re asking for help to keep functioning as the valuable mutual resource center we have been for so long. We’re looking to raise funds to repair some of the significant decay of the space’s primary community resources, such as the communal kitchen, the main space (where shows are thrown), and the outdoor workshop. We are doing this so that the church remains safe and comfortable for all who benefit from it. Here people can do, make, create, dance, share skills, love, connect and collaborate artistically, free from societal norms.

The Church operates as a music venue, community workshop, and communal kitchen. Our kitchen feeds everyone who comes here, and no one goes hungry. Some of our kitchen needs are new refrigerators, shelving units, kitchen appliances, new plates, dishes, utensils, and new water filters. Our bathrooms are in a state of disrepair, and multiple items need to be renovated and replaced. Our electricity and gas need to be upgraded to be fully functional and operational.

Our indoor main space/venue is where we host artistic/musical performances of a wide variety. Our entire event space needs an extensive makeover, including floors/walls/lighting. Our venue space produces the bulk of funds for artists who perform here and our community space's continuation. It is in much need of support and renovation. Due to COVID 19, we have had to cancel many of our shows and community events, significantly impacting our financial situation.

Our workshop space, which hosts a full woodshop, metal shop, gardening/plant rehabilitation and bike shop, needs new tools, workbenches, storage units, and equipment. Due to our shop being outside, many of our tools are old and rusted and need replacements and coverings.
