Please help a queer couple facing eviction find housing! My partner and I have limiting handicaps (multiple sclerosis and cPTSD) that affect our daily capabilities. We realized a few years ago that our busy lives needed to be simplified to slow our disease progression. We happily moved into her parents’ home to help with their needs. In exchange for this labor of care, we would inherit the home and resources to use to maintain the home. We were so relieved to have a home to grow old in and that we would not have to worry about securing housing. A huge relief for us!
However, that security is about to be shattered. About a year ago, my partner’s mother died and her father quickly remarried to a woman he didn’t know. This eventually resulted in a family argument and while we tried to help, somehow we are now seen as the problem and we were recently evicted from our home with no notice. Yes, this IS legal in our state.
We are scrambling to find short term housing followed by a more permanent home within our means. We are asking for assistance with the move and short term housing while we sort out how to rebuild our lives. We hope to find peace and joy, again, with our dog. Please consider contributing whatever you can to our housing fund, which will literally keep us off the streets.
