CHROMEBOOKS 4 KIDS
THE NEED
In light of recent challenges, many youth in the Ottawa area are lacking the technology to continue their education from home. Where possible schools are lending out laptops to students, but their resources are very limited.
Community partners and associations are all working together to meet the various living needs within the community and theREACHcentre would like to do the same by providing Chromebooks to 100 students.
There are over 500 at-risk kids in the Caldwell community situated in Carlington, which are at-risk and over 60 families displaced at the Travelodge Hotel. See community statistics below.
THE CAUSE
This year theREACHcentre and The Caldwell Family Centre would like to provide Chromebooks to at least 100 students along with two $1000 Scholarships. 100% of the proceeds donated to this cause will be going to at-risk/low-income families within the Carlington Community. More specifically to students living on Caldwell Avenue in Ottawa. Details of the Cause:
- 3-month campaign from May 25 - Aug 25, 2020, to secure $25,000 to purchase 100 Chromebooks
- Distribution of Chromebooks and Scholarships will take place on Sunday, August 30th
- Students from Grades 3 - Grade 12 will have an opportunity to receive a Chromebook of their own (not borrowed)!
- 1 Chromebook per family
- Two $1,000 scholarships would be given to two deserving students pursuing post-secondary education.
To make this initiative a success, we rely on the generosity of individuals and goodwill of local businesses, such as your own, for much-needed support. We are seeking Chromebooks and monetary gifts to supplement the donations and purchases that we have already received.
We would very much appreciate any donation you or your business could give. For monetary gifts of $20 or more we would be more than pleased to furnish you with a charitable tax receipt. Charitable Registration Number is 1021098-6.
Let's continue to "Educate Without Borders" and help those in need!
