Christy & Hector's IVF Journey

Dear friends & family,
As some of you may already know, my sister Christy and her husband Hector, have been on a long journey trying to have a baby. They have focused on their health and helping others on their health journeys, while trusting God to make a way for them to have a child. Over the past three years, they have faced many challenges with unexplained infertility but have not given up. They have tried 3 rounds of IUI that were unsuccessful. Last year Christy was diagnosed with severe endometriosis and underwent surgery in November, hoping that would be the answer they needed to get pregnant, but it has not brought the solution they hoped for.
At this point, they have done everything possible to try and conceive on their own, but the doctor has encouraged them to consider IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) because of their history and stage of life. They have struggled with the enormity of the cost of IVF as well as the uncertainty of whether it will work, but they feel strongly that if they don’t at least try this last avenue they will always wonder “what if”.
For those who have not experienced infertility or watched someone close to you go through it, it is an extremely emotional, painful, and at times a seemingly hopeless process. As her sister and friend, it is my heart’s desire to help them reach this dream they’ve had for so long. My wish is to help them financially, but I can’t do this alone. That is why I am asking for your help.
As you probably know, IVF is expensive and is not covered by most insurance companies. They have found a great clinic and for $20k they will have 2 complete cycles of egg retrievals, embryo transfers, and all medications. And if they are still not pregnant after exhausting all of that, their IVF Clinic will give them a 3rd cycle free of charge.
I have watched proudly over these last five years as they have worked hard and lived frugally to finally achieve financial freedom, paying off their student loans and medical debt from Hector’s jaw reconstruction surgeries. $20K is more than they can do all on their own without sinking themselves into years of financial struggle to get out of that hole especially in the face of adding the costs of raising children on top of that.
Therefore, I am asking for help on their behalf from our family and friends. I know this may have been a difficult year for many of you and understand that we are asking for a lot, but I fully believe in the power of prayer and when people come together big things can happen. Any amount is helpful and will make a difference. Please also keep Christy and Hector in your prayers as they begin the IVF journey. We know that their road ahead will have a lot of ups and downs, but we also know that God has a plan for their lives and we trust in that plan whole-heartedly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story. On behalf of Christy and Hector and our family, we appreciate all of the prayers, support, and financial contributions more than you know.
Love,
Jenn
A personal note from Christy and Hector:
This may seem like a crazy time to try and do this with everything that is going on with our mom’s ongoing battle with brain cancer…BUT…if mom’s diagnosis has taught us anything it’s that tomorrow is never certain. We thought about delaying starting IVF but after much prayer and discussion we feel like it’s the most honoring thing we can do for our marriage, our trust in God’s timing, and also for mom. To move forward believing and hoping whole heartedly for the best outcomes in all areas. Mom holding, kissing, and loving our babies is EVERYTHING to us and we are moving forward in confidence that it will happen.
We are so excited to meet the children that God has planned for us and to raise them to know, love, and glorify Him. We can’t wait to share with our children the incredible love story of all we’ve gone through to be able to have them and to also share with them how others outside of our family already loved them so much before they were even conceived that they helped us financially and prayerfully continue our journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Christy and Hector
