A Better Christmas
All,
So last year as part of our Christmas get together, we raised some money to help service members in the area provide a better Christmas for their families. Due to some scheduling issues, it doesn't look like I can get a suitable date or location for a get together this year. But would still like to do something to help those we helped last year. For those of you who participated, you'll remember the feedback we received and how meaningful it was to those who benefited.
To recap, or for those new to the effort, our friend Lt. Colonel Edward Croot is the current battalion comander for the US Army's Mid Atlantic recruiting battalion. The soldiers under his command, for the most part, come from different parts of the country and are stationed here with their families with little to no adjustment for cost of living. These soldiers work tirelessly to try and attract the best possible recruits to serve in our all volunteer army. The stresses placed on them, in addition to their day to day jobs, by being dropped in the northeast market and having to provide for families makes their jobs only that much harder. Last year we raised $1500 that went to 5 families and helped to provide them with a better Christmas for their children. Hoping to match, if not exceed, that effort this year.
Sorry for the relative last minute notice of this, would like to get the money to Ed prior to Dec 10 to give him time to decide and get to those in need in time for the holidays. Anything you can give, $10, $25, $50 will go directly to active military families for Christmas.
Please share with anyone you think might be interested in helping out. I'm hoping for us all to get together after the holidays this time, I'll get something together.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
