Hi, my name is Joneisha Stephens, and I currently live in Toronto, Canada. I was born and raised in Saint Vincent until I migrated to Canada at the age of 10.

In 2023, I returned home for the first time in 16 years — and I’ve been back every year since. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to return home yearly, and simply put, there is no place like home. Each visit has given me the chance to rediscover the rich history, the natural beauty, and most importantly, the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Although I am privileged and grateful for the opportunity to live abroad, I will never forget where I come from.

But while many only see the Caribbean’s beauty, the reality is that countless Vincentian families quietly struggle to make ends meet. Despite growth in tourism, the cost of living continues to rise. The average full-time worker earns about EC$1,000 per month (≈ $514 CAD / $370 USD), with hourly wages ranging from EC$7–9 (≈ $3.60–$4.62 CAD / $2.59–$3.33 USD), depending on the sector.

This Christmas, God has placed it on my heart to give back by blessing families with food, toys, and other essentials — bringing hope, joy, and love into their homes.

Your donations will go directly toward purchasing these items locally in Saint Vincent — supporting families while also helping local businesses. I will personally distribute everything and share updates and photos from the trip, so you can see the difference your generosity makes.
