I first learned about this community in Apurímac, Peru, when I traveled to Cuzco and a friend told me about their situation. The community is so far from the city that it takes an eight-hour bus ride from Cuzco, and the bus only goes there twice a week. Because of this isolation, the families there are often forgotten by the government and left to fend for themselves. They survive by growing their own crops and raising animals, but life is incredibly hard, especially during the cold season when people and animals can die from the freezing temperatures. Their homes are not built for the harsh climate, and they have no heating or outside assistance.

This Christmas, I want to bring some joy and hope to the children and families in this community. With your support, we can provide a special Christmas dinner, give each child a toy, and prepare food baskets for every family. My friend, who is part of Rotary International in Lima, will help purchase the toys and food, and make sure everything reaches the community in time for the holidays.
