Hi there,

my name is Charlotte and this year I have decided to give back to the community for Christmas.

Every year, I am lucky to be surrounded by friends and family at Christmas time. Along with many others, I enjoy time off work and being able to spend quality time with those I love the most.

This year was looking a little different for me, with various family members choosing to spend the festive period abroad, which got me to thinking of all the people who aren't as fortunate to be surrounded by a network of people. At a time of year where the world is bustling with people Christmas shopping, families enjoying the festivities, and the yearly traditions that so many will have, in amongst those are elderly and vulnerable people that will see or speak to no one on Christmas day. There is no Christmas dinner and there are no celebrations.

Therefore, this year, I have decided to host a Christmas day for those who need it most.

I am not alone in my efforts, I have managed to draft in the help of my lovely, selfless friend, Jordan and her wonderful husband Joe, who have very kindly agreed to help me with preparations and the running of the event. There is also my 7 year old son who is excited to be a waiter for the day! We want all attendees to enjoy a 3 course meal, made by us, drinks, games and gifts. In order to ensure this event is accessible to anyone who wants to come, we are aiming to make it cost free for them.

We are lucky enough to have the use of St Albans Church Hall in Chaddesden free of charge, which we are extremely grateful for. All that remains now is to raise the funds for this event to go ahead.

We are aiming to raise £500 to cover the cost of the meal, drinks, bingo prizes and token gifts for up to 30 people. (We are still working on our guestlist!) I believe everyone deserves to have a Christmas full of love and laughter and I hope you will agree the cause is extremely worthy. We will be grateful for every penny we receive towards the day.
