Newport's Christmas Cwtch Appeal 2024

Newport's 2024 Christmas Cwtch appeal is a collaborative community effort, including some amazing local volunteers who help each year, local businesses, local residents, Newport City Council Children's Services staff, and Newport Live (which is a local charity providing lots of projects and support to children, young people, and families in Newport).

We aim to bring a smile, some warmth, and a Christmas Cwtch to the most vulnerable children, young people, and families in Newport this festive time.

Your donations will be spent directly on the purchase of warm essentials like socks, throws, hats, blankets, and hot water bottles as well as packs of biscuits, selection boxes, chocolates, shopping vouchers, and toys for younger children. Anything leftover from the funds will go towards a Christmas Party, in partnership with the Celtic Manor Resort, where the same looked-after children and vulnerable young people will be invited to a party in the marquee, with activities, games, a disco, buffet, and the big man himself 'Father Christmas'. We hope all of this, and your amazing support, will bring a smile to those who need it the most at Christmas.

This year we’re aiming to help 300 vulnerable children, young people, and families in Newport, working in partnership with those who know them the most, our colleagues in Children's Services at Newport City Council; all working together to fundraise, purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts over the festive period.

The gift bags will be delivered by key workers, social workers, and trusted adults/partners who have established relationships and connections to families, homes, shelters, projects, and hostels in Newport (linked to Social Services – children who are looked after, unaccompanied asylum seeker children, care leavers, 16+ age).
