This year, I am running the Christchurch Half Marathon for Alzheimers Society. I have been training well and ready to push myself harder than ever before to get a time I can be proud of.

In 2017, my nan, Audrey ward, was her lively self. She was compassionate, loving and always putting others above herself. She was always active and as shown in the photo above, what she enjoyed most was looking after me and my older sister on the weekends. Unfortunately, over the next two years after injuring herself, her Alzheimer's became life changing. Sadly, me and my family watched my nan fade away, and although she passed on New Years eve in 2019, it felt as though we had lost her long before that.

That is why I am fundraising for Alzeimer's society. I wish to support families dealing with and experiencing the challenges that come with living with Alzheimer's. So I feel very fortunate to make a difference, and for a cause that has a huge sense of value to me.
