I am a very private person and was very hesitant to write this story and to set up a gofundme account however after talking with my husband we believe that our story could help someone else who might be facing a similar struggle....
My husband and I got married November 25, 2011. My husband already had 2 children prior to our marriage. Before getting married we knew that we wanted to have children of our own also. After trying for a year, we were referred to a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at the end of 2012. After multiple test, blood work and consultations we began fertility treatments. After 6 rounds of IUI (artificial insemination) with injections and medications our doctor recommended that we start looking at doing IVF. During the last round of IUI our doctor started doing more blood work for IVF. During this blood work, we discovered that my AMH (anti mullerian hormone) level was below normal for my age. This level helps estimate your ovarian reserve. My doctor then told us that my AMH level indicates that my eggs are about the quality of a 38-40yr olds (I was 28yrs old at the time of this blood work). This was pretty hard news to take and was unexpected. At this point our doctor informed us that we need to move pretty quickly and aggressively because we didn't have a lot of time. We did IVF in November 2013. We were very hopeful and so was our doctor that this was our chance to start a family of our own. After tons of medications/injections, blood work, procedures and doctor visits almost every other day we found out approximately 2 weeks after the IVF procedure was complete that it was unsuccessful. Our doctor is very hopeful that when we do IVF again that it will work. She says everything looked great throughout the process, it just didn't have the end result we hoped for. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover any fertility treatments which are very expensive. We are trying to save for another round of IVF (about $13K) however we are also still paying for the last round. My husband saw this idea on the news and thought it'd be a great way for us to raise money so we can be able to fulfill our dream of having children. If there's any money that we do not use, it will be donated to another family. Thank you so much!!!
