Hi, my name is Chris Chong, and I’m working on my Eagle Scout Project to support Jan's Garden at North Texas Food Bank in Plano, Texas. This garden provides fresh, nutritious produce to individuals and families facing food insecurity while also serving as an educational space for children to learn about gardening and sustainability.
For my project, I am building two garden bed tunnels that will:
- Protect cold-sensitive crops from freezing temperatures, allowing for year-round growth.
- Act as a barrier against pests, leading to a higher yield of fresh, healthy food.
- Extend the growing season, ensuring a continuous supply of produce for those in need.
- Increase the longevity of the garden beds by applying a plant-safe wood stain to protect against moisture, UV damage, and rot.
This project will make a lasting impact by enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and providing hands-on learning experiences for the community.
How You Can Help
I need to raise funds to purchase the materials necessary to build these tunnels, including plastic sheeting, netting, plant-safe stain, and EMT conduits. Every dollar counts, and any contribution will help bring this project to life!
Your support will directly help provide more fresh food for families in need while ensuring this garden remains a valuable resource for years to come.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping me make a difference in our community!
