Although Asher is still processing what it will mean to no longer be the only child, Chris and Seth are now in the final stages of taking the steps needed to expand their family through LA county's foster to adopt program. To get to this moment, they have both gone through countless hours of training, paperwork and existentialist breakdowns, but they have made it to the other side and are more excited than ever to become the caregivers and parents we all know they were meant to be.
Some of you might be asking: Why a GoFundMe and not a baby registry?
If you are one of these people, I thought I would take a second to explain. While they have setup some traditional gift-giving options through BabyList (contact me through GoFundMe), there are a lot of unknowns when choosing the route of foster-to-adoption. First, foster parents don't usually know how old their foster child will be until potentially twenty-four hours before arrival. As you can imagine, this makes a traditional baby registry a little difficult. Second, the ultimate goal of the foster care system is reunification. This means that Chris and Seth might be serving as foster parents for more than one child before adoption even becomes an option. They both understand the important role they may play as transitional caregivers, but it can make financial family planning even more complicated.
This is why I thought one of the best ways we could show Chris, Seth & their future foster family our love is by contributing to a GoFundMe. Financial support like this could relieve at least some of the stress they may encounter as they continue to learn what the needs of their future child(ren) will be.
I hope you will consider giving support in any amount that you can.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me through GoFundMe.
Love,
Mikael Taylor
