I am excited to announce that I have committed to my first chiropractic related mission trip, to Ensenada, Mexico, this spring break! Not only will this trip be filled with learning, but it will also be a therapeutic experience for myself and every person my team and I encounter.
Learning what Chiropractic is was huge for me. Unlike most already enrolled in the program, I didn't exactly know what a Chiropractor did. I came to Life U and heard a group of students explain how the power that made the body, heals the body. At first, it seemed like it was just a bunch of words until they got technical on me and started throwing the science into the mix. They broke down the anatomy to go along with the philosophy and made the connections for me see that this thing called Chiropractic makes sense. Not only did it make sense, but there were also results!
I had conversations with multiple people from similar immigrant backgrounds as myself and realized that none of us had a clue. I am excited not only to be a chiropractor here in the US, but I might be even more excited about going to spread the word internationally. My goal is to go back to my mother islands (St. Lucia and Jamaica) to teach and expand the profession. I've been learning a lot for the past 2 plus years in school, but this is the first steppingstone in my journey to fulfill my purpose.
The most important thing that I have learned as Chiropractic student is the brain to body connection. The brain is the captain of the ship which receives input, processes information, then sends a response to the rest of our body. Clearing the Nervous system ensures that the messages sent back and forth from the brain reach their destination. A clear nervous system is what allows the body to heal and function optimally. Food, water, education, as well as clear nervous system should be available to everyone. My job on this trip would be enlightenment on health, chiropractic, and SERVE the needs of the people of Ensenada in whatever capacity possible. Please help make this trip come to fruition by supporting me on this journey. Funding is due on March 2, 2020. Consider donating to help pay for my flight, transportation, food, and lodging. Thank You!
