we did it!! we've surpassed our 2nd goal -- thank you so much to our donors and everyone who shared our virtual fundraiser with their comrades and allies <3 we're moving the goal post one last and final time as a few final/unforeseen conference costs have come up ::
- venue mix up requiring an additional rental for 100 chairs plus a staffing fee for saturday night
- tests, our free covid test source fell through so we need to buy 200 tests asap
- final reimbursements for speakers and facilitators (all volunteers who are offering their skills, knowledge, and time for free)
if we are able to reach this FINAL goal we can seriously begin thinking about next year. it would mean so so much to be able to provide for our community like this again in 2026. the cost to organize a conference is not small but can be covered by donations and shares of all sizes. if you have the capacity please consider helping us cross this finish line!!!

we are less than $500 away from reaching our goal! thank you so much to everyone who has donated or shared this virtual fundraiser. your most recent donations have funded ::
- travel and hotel stipends for conference facilitators and speakers (all volunteers who are offering their skills, knowledge, and time for free)
- workshop and session costs (community dinner friday, knot tying supplies, and square tables rented for mahjongg)
- custom lanyards, stickers, banners, and the print program
please continue to share this virtual fundraiser with your trusted friends and comrades and donate when you can. the conference is less than 43 days away and there are still a handful of expenses we have due - including ::
- travel and hotel reimbursements for conference faciliators and speakers (reimbursements are scheduled to be dispursed at or 30 days after the conference)
- general conference supplies (tape, hand sanitizer, print outs, paper towels, markers, tissues)

we reached our first goal! a huge thank you to everyone who donated and shared our virtual fundraiser with their connections. with the money we were able to ::
- provide 8 micro grants to community members to help offset travel and hotel costs in order to attend the conference
- buy 20 dna kits for conference attendees who would otherwise not have access to one or a safer space to take one
- pay off the venue invoice
our new goal is $8,000. we are less than $2500 away from reaching it already! the new goal will help offset the following conference costs ::
- workshop and session expenses (dumpling making supplies, table rentals for mahjong and the affinity mixer)
- art supplies (art workshop expenses, mural project supplies)
- stipends and reimbursements (hotel and travel costs for speakers and co facilitators volunteering their time and knowledge throughout the conference)

we are chinese adoptee collective. a grassroots volunteer collective of people adopted from china working together to organize the first closed* conference for our community. we believe through education, caregiving, storytelling, and connection we can nourish said community and empower each other now and far into the future. this gofundme is to help offset conference costs.
today there are approximately 160,000 people who were born in china and adopted transnationally. these people have generally been isolated from each other and often been told to be grateful for their adoption. this dismisses and minimizes the losses many face from relinquishment. with the recent news of china closing its international adoption program, our community is especially fragile and in need now more than ever to gather, socialize, organize, and heal.
below is a list of goals and costs we hope to offset through this virtual fundraiser from now through 2025 ::
goal #1 ($4895) ::
- venue (three days, multiple rooms) - $3895
- tables and chairs (approx 150 units)- $1000
goal #2 ($5000, added after goal #1 hit)
- speaker expenses - $2500
- micro travel grants (for attendees in need) - $2500
goal #3 ($1000, added after goal #2 and #3 hit)
- dna kits (for attendees in need if they wish) - $1000
