Want to join 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S) in making a difference? We're raising money to help benefit Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) and any donation will help make an impact.

33 Engineer Regiment has long had standing ties with the district of Uttlesford and in particular the residents of Saffron Walden, who have welcomed its service personnel from Carver Barracks with open arms into their community.

With the support of Saffron Walden Town Council, we have been given the opportunity to help give something back in the form of hosting a charity event in the centre of Saffron Walden. All of our proceeds are to be donated to the local charity, UCAN. Their primary mission is to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst its local population and enable people to live independent but supported and connected lives.

Our event will involve members from 58 Squadron conducting an equipment race, where they will be moving a combined weight of 50 tonnes from point A to Point B. To do this, it will require them to complete a distance of 25km and carrying 100kg during each shuttle run. To make up this designated weight they will be carrying logs, guns and anything else they can lump on their backs all while wearing full battle dress. This event will be taking place in the heart of Saffron Walden for all to see on June 6th 2026 @ 0900hrs

The idea for this challenge comes from a notable achievement in 58 Squadrons long standing history. In 1944 during the Burma campaign, 58 Field Squadron transported an entire brigade across the Chindwin River on improvised rafts. This was a total of 2000 men, 200 mules and 50 tonnes worth of equipment without any losses.
